Lord of The Will we one day see the EUs ring of stars waving over Lords?

And if the day should ever come when England’s Test cricketers must wear the EU ring of stars on their jerseys as they walk out to play Australia at Lord’s, there will be little our great Eurosceptic Mr Cameron can do about it.

One reason that sport now looms large on the integrationist agenda is that under Article 165 of the Lisbon Treaty (aka the EU constitution, the one on which both Mr Brown and Mr Cameron iled to deliver a promised referendum) it has become a full EU competence. So we can expect much Brussels interference in how sport is organised and regulated, beginning with the various measures to be proposed this week in the European Parliament.

Terms and Conditions

The EU wants to see all the sportspeople ofLord of The Will we one day see the EUs ring of stars waving over Lords? its member states wearing the ring of stars logo, writes Christopher Booker.

We no longer check to see whether Telegraph.co.uk displays properly in Internet Explorer version 6 or earlier.

It is to Adonnino that we owe the ring-of-stars flag itself, as well as the idea of Europe having its own anthem. Among his other proposals that have since come to fruition are the European driving licence, the ring-of-stars logo on number plates, and the Euro-lottery. One thing he was particularly keen on was building European identity through sport – which is why, since 1988, the ring of stars has been so prominently waved whenever Europe plays the US for the Ryder Cup.

This follows closely on last week’s news that dozens of organisations here, including councils, museums, universities, eve isk. businesses – even the Peterborough YMCA – have been fined by Brussels, to a total of nearly £500,000, for iling to display the EU flag after receiving cash from the European Regional Development Fund. The rules impose this advertising as a condition of EU funding, even though every penny of it must be matched by funding from national taxpayers, and for every pound we get from Brussels we have paid £2 to the EU in the first place.

There has been quite a stir over a proposal going before the European Parliament this week rf gold, that participants in major sporting events in the EU should carry on their team strip the EU ring of stars. Under the heading European identity through sport, the Spanish rapporteur of the Parliament’s Culture and Education Committee wants to see it made compulsory, not just for the EU flag to fly at big sporting occasions, but for the jersey of the athletes of the Member States to be blazoned too.

Weather Forecast

There is nothing new about the idea of using sport to this end. It goes back at least quarter of a century, to a report entitled A People’s Europe, produced by Pietro Adonnino, a former Italian MEP, and approved by EU leaders in 1984 and 1985. Among those who nodded it through were Mrs Thatcher, although she probably never read it, since she had rather more pressing matLord of The Ring(EU)ters on her mind at those two European Councils, such as negotiating the UK rebate and being ambushed over plans for a new treaty, the Single European Act.

What the stories have in common is that they both exemplify the one agenda that underlies everything the EU does – whether it’s the wonderful euro or the way we must all carry EU passports – which is to promote ever-closer integration and our common European identity.

Doni’s Dish: A Conversation With Doug Mudford, of ‘Reflections in a Mirror (While Shaving)’ Dream of Mir

: Thank you! Lets get started before you change your mind. No need to put on a clean shirt. This will be easy and fun. Thanks for agreeing to it. (Sign here, here and here, and here, and here.)

July 11, 2011 • 8:15 am Always enjoy Reflections whenever the column comes. The Embryo Book Feature idea could be an interesting read, and maybe offer quality worthwhile comments. No hatch jobs, though!

: No need to watch what you say. For purposes of Reflections Im more interested in an individuals appearance ... I make up what they should say. I cant seem to sit and come up with a column on demand. Im not afraid of writers block ... in ct, when the column becomes forced, Ill welcome it.

Were talking about me, again, Doug. Very clever. You cannot throw me off track that easily. And no, I never thought Id be running a news website. Never in a pillion billion jillion years. Enough about my job.

: OK, on a lighter note, being as though you liked my difficult question about work, whats the most difficult part about being a writer?

And trust me, you wont be boring. Well keep it conversational and light and funny. Dishes are among my vorite things to do. Youll see. Youll like it, too.

This might be a good place to stop, dont you think?

: Wow. Fascinating. I wonder how many other people think like that? Maybe most people do ... and Im the outcast. Heres something else I want to know: When you were a kid, what did you dream of becoming when you grew up?

: Ive started two novels I keep hidden ... probably utzing around too much to ever finish. I admire people like

: Im printing and saving your last comment because it describes what I hoped for. I saved a column of yours written some time ago that gave me that same feeling. Now can I get a raise? Youre so nice, I doubt you would tell me but thats OK, portions of most friendships are based on the you cant handle the truth principle.

: Ill have to think about Donis Dish. How does it actually work? All at once? Over time? On a certain day? If I come across as boring, can you pull the plug?

: Yeah, I like the sounds of those words better than insecure and doubting. Speaking of flexible, for a short time you wrote another column for aNewsCafe.com. It was called That Lawyer Guy, which is a catchy title. But you dropped it and started the

My question is a little different for you ... when did you first realize you could earn a living by writing?

You know, I really like your idea about the Embryo Book Feature, but then I think of putting my chapters up for review, and I fear someone would recommend an abortion for it. Sorry, had to follow the metaphor.

Doni&8217;s Dish: A Conversation With Doug Mudford, of &8216;Reflections in a Mirror (While Shaving)&8217;

: Ill take sly as a compliment, thank you so very much. But regarding your job, I would imagine the specialty of personal injury makes your vocation so potentially stressful. Im sure you see all kinds of injuries that are really nightmare material. It must be satisfying to win a case on behalf of clients whove had so much go wrong.

Oh, wait, readers, I have two questions for you: First, is there something new youve dreamed of trying - something outside of your comfort zone, whether its becoming a librarian or playing the saxophone or writing a book? Whats stopping you?

: Perspective helps ... real stress is not being able to feed your child or being told youre terminally ill. While Im usually talking to people at one of the low points in their lives, its most satisfying when my help brings them a little self-confidence and a smile ... doesnt always happen.

: For me, thats easy to identify ... its the ability to say enough! Leave it as written ... no more changes, futzing, putzing or any other ...utzings. I have one rule ... when the number of drafts has exceeded all possible numerical and letter combinations, its time to move on.

: The thoughts in the column come in spurts ... sometimes a column is finished as st as I can type (with the above clumsy fingers caveat) ... sometimes scribbled notes over a week or so. The thoughts usually come while watching and listening to people, thinking of something silly Ive done and, yes, while shaving.

Reflections column. Which reminds me ... what made you change columns?

Writing can be so worthwhile for the id, and bring out intereting inner thoughts and scary ones from that old gray matter.

Whats the most difficult part about being a lawyer?

: ... yes ... yes I do ... (Sorry. I couldnt resist.)

: Dont worry. Doing the Dish is easy. Ill email you a short list of statements/questions. You reply, and add feedback, as well as your own questions/statements. Itll grow from there, back and forth, as we add to it with our responses, just as if we were talking. Itll take days, maybe even a week.

: I can handle the truth. OK buy mabinogi gold, wait. Maybe I cant. Never mind. Hey, subject change ... About that raise ... do you want that in Tollhouse cookies, Snickerdoodles or molasses ginger snaps?

: So people should be careful what they say around you. Duly noted. So, thats interesting. (Long pause.)

: We all have more than none. Its just so hard to give them a real try. Did you ever think you would be on the cutting edge of the electronic news media? My wife Cherry decided late she would like to be paid for working in a library ... and did! (She is however rolling her eyes, just a little, when I tell her my latest project is to take saxophone lessons in the barn.)

Charlie Price who just kept after it until he won.

Independent online journalist Doni Greenberg founded whats now known as anewscafe.com in 2007 with her son, Joe Domke of the Czech Republic. Prior to 2007 Greenberg was an award-winning news opinion columnist, feature and food writer recognized by the Associated Press, the California News Publishers Association and E.W. Scripps. She lives in Redding, CA.

: Well, good point - about not wanting people to see behind my mirror (not about you being technically slow). Uh, if behind the mirror you mean my insecure, doubting self, no, I wouldnt want people to see that part of me.

Doug Mudford, would you do me the honor of being my partner in Donis Dish? I hope youll say yes.

: OK, Ill give the Dish a try ... guess Ill have to put on a clean shirt and watch my language ... @&%!.

Kidding aside, I know Im really curious about this, and maybe readers are, too, but how exactly do you go about creating the Reflections columns? Do you gather items for a long time, and then turn them into a column when youve got enough? Do you write it all at one time from memory?

: You are a sly person, Doni ...you couldnt give me a softball question about what I like or dislike the most ... It has to be the most difficult ... instead of rattling off some pat answer, I actually have to think about that. Geez. I would say managing expectations ... injuries are always more serious when theyve happened to us. Its difficult to put that very personal hurt in perspective with similar injuries to others. Whether we like it or not, other cases involving similar injuries, settlements, trials and rulings need to be weighed when deciding the direction to go.

: Do you mean you think in paragraphs?

: I did say Id tell you if your column was embarrassing. But your column has been r from embarrassing. Its been a hit. You know why? Because you write honest thoughts - some funny, some serious - that the rest of us can relate to. You make us feel normal - or at least not alone in our abnormality. Your column style reminds me of Herb Caen, you know, with all those ellipses, and the humorous, smart observations.

:  I had (have) reservations about doing the Dish because I have clumsy fingers trying to keep up with your agile mind. I like email and texting but my friends could take a short trip by the time I actually get a response in a send format. Are you one of those people whose fingers can keep up with your thought process? If so, just relax, this Dish could take a while.  I admire your reporter instinct of wanting to see whats behind the mirror, but the reflected image is usually so danged much better. Would you want people looking behind your mirror?

July 11, 2011 • 8:06 am Ive been away from A News Cafe for a few months but glad I returned for this Dish with Doug. Always enjoy the writing of you both.

How about you, Doni? Ever thought of writing a novel? What genre? Maybe A News Cafe could add the Embryo Book Feature, which would allow frustrated authors to submit a chapter for comments and criticism. Submissions would be under pseudonyms, of course.

: Until 14, I wanted to be a dentist until a nice teacher told me I would actually have to understand chemistry and math. We both had a good laugh over that improbability. From early on, I wanted to be a lawyer and/or a writer. I got a late start in both ... maybe thats why I still enjoy both.

I was 43 years old the first time I stepped out of my comfort zone and began doing the singer-songwriter thing -- thats when My Life, Part 2 began. It is frightening, exhilarating, challenging and oh yes, - incredibly fun.

: I do believe youve just invented a new word: utzing. But I get your point. To me, that means youre a natural writer, Doug. You know, Ive heard of some lawyers who actually achieve quite a bit of acclaim writing fiction. Is there a novel behind that reflection?

And, second, although Doug will kill me for this, I do get the last word in Donis Dish, so what do you think about Reflections in a Mirror While Shaving?

: I knew it! I knew you had a novel in you, but two! As that wonderful line goes in the movie, Throw Mama From the Train, - A writer always writes. Always.

Me? Well, since you asked, yes, I have been working on a book, but Im kind of shy about talking about it.  And youre right when you say that writers like our Edgar-Award-winning friend Charlie Price are inspirational. If he ever teaches writing workshops Ill be his first student and will sit in the front row.

July 11, 2011 • 6:53 am Dougs Reflections ALWAYS bring a smile to my ce. His writing style - open, honest, self-deprecating - is a refreshing lesson to the writer in me.

: Yep, that self ... but I prefer to think of us as inquisitive and flexible.

: Well, sentences, zentia gold. at the very least. Back to your dream occupation when you were a kid. Not very creative stalling, I might add.

: I hated doing That Lawyer Guy. There are so many people better at that style of a column. I did it because you asked me ... when  A News Cafe was first starting. From the beginning I was trying to figure out a way to convince you to let me try something different. I was nervous when I submitted the first ReflectDream of Mirror Onlineions in a Mirror While Shaving because I was afraid you woDoni’s Dish: A Conversation With Doug Mudford, of ‘Reflections in a Mirror (While Shaving)’ Dream of Miruld laugh at me ... wait, wait, wait, I wanted you to smile or laugh but not AT me. Ive admired your writing for a long time but dont you ever get  a little nervous (before publication) that maybe a column just isnt very good? If you recall, you agreed to tell me if Reflections would be embarrassing to me or you.

: That sounds like a challenge. Be careful what you wish for. Speaking of writing, I hate to put you on the spot (which means Im about to) but do you really think in snippets like that?

: Well, I was one of those kids for whom writing was easier than talking. Still is. I enrolled in college when I was in my 30s, and was originally going to be a social worker, until I took a creative writing class from a woman named Joan Haworth. She pulled me aside after class one day and asked if Id ever considered a career in writing. I literally changed majors that day from psychology to journalism. I kept the psychology minor, though, because it was interesting.

Lead Story -> Doni&8217;s Dish: A Conversation With Doug Mudford, of &8216;Reflections in a Mirror (While Shaving)&8217;

But, always have fun!

: I can totally relate to the math issue. I almost didnt enroll in college because I was so terrified of the required math classes. But thats cool you have two things you really enjoy doing. Some people have none.

Templar or Guardian.

and yeah thats a good idea. ill edit it now.

Good class introduction guide by the way!

Engineer! Engineers are as what youmight assume the technical class. Engineers use little tool boxes(that look like brief cases) as their weapons and have pretty fun andflashy skills. They also have the ability to summon up little turrets that deals damage for a short time to enemies(yes, it works in PVP!). Engineer is a nice beginner class as itsstats remain in the same number range and you dont really need toworry much about it until youre second job.

You should add some pictures of every class/weapon, and that the name of the robots is called MG in the game. :)

this is what makes that a not so bad idea

Bards are the healing support class in this game... well they can mostly be support but can also beoffensive. Bards have the ability to use water magic (like sorcerers)as well as heal. Bards are the most wanted to heal in parties. Theyre very popular to grind with, especially since the coming of Colloseum and Spooky Village (two really popular grinding instances). If you enjoy healing and saving your friends, choose a Bard!

Bladers, on the other hand, have no attack skillswhatsoever besides the deult hard and light attacks. Bladers consists of buffs and keeping in tune with theamount of hits you make (with the deult attack button) in order tocombo. Bladers use dual swords, which attract most people but it iscompletely latency dependent in order to be fun. If you have verylittle to no lag in this game, go for it!

Explorers! Explores are what I like tocall the money class. Their weapon choices consist of dagger, crossbow, and bow. If you enjoy rming, money, and findingitems you might want to choose explorer as your class. Both classesit branches off into are considered the best for rming items andmoney in the game.

also you can use colisuem bag / adv bag too. so weapon isnt a problem

Tool Box Mastery (Master)

Edited by uskdara - Oct 16 2010 at 10:22pm

Personally, I think you should add what each element/weapon does since fire and water are different...verydifferent. and i think that notes from other players should be added under that specfic class (chances are, if you wanna read only about mages, youre not gonna scroll down to the bottom to read all the other classes)other than that, id just have to agree with the other guy who said that daggers arent useless (its good for us slow attackers like fire and earth)

You cannot edit your posts in this forum

thats a good idea! im not sure where i should incorporate that into though... like when im talking about each class i take a small ss of them doing one skill? or do you mean all skills..

Engineer

Btw that gs example you have up there is gross.

Sorcerers are basically the samething as wizards, just more buffed up and we can run around withorbs. It is not latency dependent and irly easy to use as you dont need to focus too much on combos. With each element you get a decent amount of range and AoE. If you like the idea of killing things with natures elements Sorcerer might be your class!

Guardians are the only second class whouse knuckles. It is also a class which requires a lot of patience...you literally end up having maybe 12 skills to use (or more!). Like Templars, Guardians are able to obtain a lot of HP and can be irly strong, but they lack the defense their counterpart-class has. If youresomebody who needs a lot of attacks to keep themselves busy, uwo gold. Isuggest guardian.

Warriors as the name implies are offensivecharacters. Warriors use two-handed swords, spears, and also have thechoice of knuckles. LIKE the rest of the physical-damage dealingclasses each weapon has two trees to go down. Most people whoare completely new to this game usually choose warriors as theirfirst class... mostly because its a very generic class.

and Bard.

Hello! :) My IGN is Macci and I am aproud owner of a level 184 Sorcerer; Bard; Blader; Gunslinger;Warlord; Treasure Hunter; and a Meister (deleted)! I have triedbasically every class available up to this moment so I think Ill beable to give some good insight on what kind of game play each classrequires!

Id like to thank everyone who has helped me with this guide-- whether it be with the video or taking screenshots of their characters or critiques. I dont think I would have been able to fix it like it is now without you guys. Thank you. :)

Here:

Knights are the tanking class for thisgame. If you enjoy having the most hp and defense out of everyone, youll love this! Knights have the choice to use knuckles, mace, andone handed swords. Mace and one-handed sword allow knights to useshields (they even get their own class-exclusive shields) for theextra defense and hp buff.

@xeno im planning on a compiliation of each classes skills (with each tree!). if you dont mind maybe this weekend you can help me for spear warlord? i just need to find high level fire, earth, water sorcs, sword wl, and dagger, bow, and xbow ths. well at least high enough where they have all of their skills and 5th...!

cam why are you trying to ruin the guide its actually pretty good lol. Im kidding around, lol

Warlords are just the buffed up classas warriors, you use the same weapons (besides knuckles) and have thesame skills but as you level further you will eventually get thesecond form of each skill. Warlords are also known for their brutal strength and damage in this game, so if youre in to that choose this!

Im pretty sure ShawtyMcGrillem(I think thats right) is an Xbow Needle Shower user, so maybe if you can get a hold of him hed be willing.Latale

well... its a guide on what each class is like, not how to build up your sorc. :/ im not going to go through the guide and teach everyone how to gear their potential class. thats for a different guide for them to find.

Wizardis -obviously- a magical based class. Wizards have the choice of fourelements: fire; water; wind; earth. They all have their good and bad sides, so its best to either ask your friends opinions on what they like and dont like or simply try them all yourself! This classs weapon choices are staves (pluralword of staff), daggers and shields. I suggest never going the daggertree.. or any physical attack tree. You are a magical wizard! You usemagic, not physical damage dealing weapons! I see that mistake a lot.:( If you enjoy using magic and somewhat ranged attacks with a bitof AoE then wizard is for you!

Last but not least:

Yeah,all skills =) ^^

okay well can you DELETE your spam posts so i can regain the respect i had for you. :) dont be annoying on my thread, thank you.

First up Ill introduce the 5classes you can start ofs:

p.s Bards use guitars as their mainweapon.

If you have any questions regarding this guide or the game please feel free to comment and ask!

Guide seems alright but Wizard-Dagger combo is great especially early on. Wind-Dagger Wizards own. I guess learning the dagger skills themselves is a waste but there is little to no practical reason to use staff over dagger especially since dagger you can use a shield.

I can provide all WarLord skills =) since I am double tree.

point per lv required:2

Wizards branch off to twoclasses:

Speaking of second job, Engineer is theonly class who has only ONE second class to change into which is Meister! Meistersride in little robots called MG and its gameplay is compared to a mix of Bladerand Templar. You attack using combos for the most part, but you alsoget a few skills here and there (only about 4 in total and they arecompletely different from engineer). Meisters are dependent onlatency though, just like Bladers. Please take note though: Every different MG designed for Meisters combo differently.

Treasure Hunters are explorers buffedup version. They get all of the same weapons and all of the sameskills plus the second versions of them. Treasure Hunters are thegames true item-rming monsters. They have the potential to getplentyyy of idr (item drop ratethe drop rate used to get rareblue named items such as urns, weapons, and accessories) and havea skill in their miscellaneous tab that gives 300% idr if used on thekilling hit of a monster.

Knights can choose to become either:

hi i edited and fixed the guide to make it less biased.

Thats it, really! I hope you found myguide to be a bit helpful. Good luck and welcome to LaTale! :)

Gunslinger is -as the name suggest- theclass in this game that wields guns. Gunslingers and Bladers are thestest killers in the game, which is why they are known for beingable to rm a lot of money at a high level (15x or so, maybe lower).Gunslingers have the largest amount of range in the game and they are the easiest class to kite with.

Explorers branch off into two classesas well:

Notes It adds to your tool boxs raw max and min damage. (total of +200 max and +100 min if maxed)

hi lose the opinions at the end of every class explanation because you make it seem like one class is better than the other. If this is a guide for new people to pick out a class, you should seem neutral about everything. Right now you make it look like OH HEY SORCS ARE THE BEST, MAKE ONE.

Warrior

Increases your min. and max. dmg. with tool boxes. +4max. and +2min. dmg. per skill level.

Templars are basically the upgradedversion of a knight, but you can not use knuckles. You do buy mabinogi gold, however, have the power to self heal as well and also gain quite afew buffs (note that the self-heal only heals 30% of your hp and the misc buffs do NOT stack and only can be used in a party). Although Templars have a huge amount of defense, hp, and can be huge monsters overall they are somewhat slow in moving and killing. This is the class for you if you enjoy tanking!

Aside from that though, good job.

Guide seems alright but Wizard-Dagger combo is great especially early on. Wind-Dagger Wizards own. I guess learning the dagger skills themselves is a waste but there is little to no practical reason to use staff over dagger especially since dagger you can use a shield.

Second,an internal newsletter leaked out to EVE players suggests that CCP envisions a future where players can buy actual game-changing goods via a microtransaction model: Items, ships, and ammunition, to name a few.

We will gradually introduce items at other price points, rift gold. definitely lower and probably higher than whats in the store today. We hope you enjoy them and are as passionate about them as you are of the current items that are for sale, he added.

The first is thateve isk vanity microtransaction items offered via the Noble Exchange are themselves hideously overpriced&151;so much so, thatit actually costs more for a player to outfit a digital character with clothing, for example, than it would cost a player to purchase a real-life EVE Online shirt via CCPs real-life store.

Players do have the option to sell items and ships themselves within the game, which one could conceivably buy with real-world money after converting PLEX to ISK. But at some point in the supply chain, the original item was born as a result of someone working to create or find the particular item in question. Microtransaction-based purchasing, argues players, creates a kind of magic button that unirly conjures up items without requiring any actual work on behalf of any players.

So whats the problem? There are two issues that have sent EVE Onlines players either to the cancellation buttons or to the weapons systems of their ships, which theyve used to pummel an in-game trading station in a kind of digital denial of service attack.

Microtransaction vanity items debuted within the game this past Tuesday via the Noble Exchange cash shop. And these items are all wrapped into the games overall economy, which is itself partially connected to real-world cash. If that sounds confusing, thats because it is. Heres how:

As well, theyre upset that EVEs latest developer blog does little to address the fundamental question: Will EVE allow players to outright purchase game-changing goods?

Players in CCP Games massively multiplayer title EVE Online are rioting&151;as best one can express ones displeasures in a made-up world&150;over the belief that gameplay-affecting microtransaction items could be on the horizon as part of EVEs latest expansion, Incarna.

Hell hath no fury like a geek scorned&150;a geek who might have spent tens, if not hundreds, if not thousands of hours of gaming time outfitting his virtual spaceship with all sorts of death-dealing weaponry, or what-have-you.

People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? wrote EVE Online Senior ProducerArnar Hrafn Gylson.

Players can purchase an in-game currency called Aurum for 3,500 per one 30-day pilots license&151;PLEX, or a months worth of game time, which costs a player $20 of real-life U.S. dollars to acquire. One can also buy PLEX via EVEs standard currency, ISK, which opens up the aEVE Online Gamers Riot Over Microtransactions News & Opinion PCMag.com eve iskbility for one to power ones actual gaming time via success within EVEs virtual economy. Or, in other words, smart and/or good players can use the game to pay for their access to the game. Aurum is used to buy microtransaction items on the Noble Exchange.
